Robert B. Rogers

Robert B. Rogers, 69, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away, Thursday, July 27, 2016, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, OH, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born August 23, 1946, in Port Clinton, OH, the son of Hugh and Ruth (Carr) Rogers. On September 10, 2010, he married Gloria Trivette and she survives. Bob started working at U.S. Gypsum and at Whirlpool for 11 years while taking classes at the police academy in the evenings. He was the person who established the police department on Catawba and was the police chief for Catawba Island Township for 40 years. From 1972 until present, he was the owner/operator of the Catawba Sporting Goods Co, and also had a plumbing business for a short time. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood carving and boating. He especially loved spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by his loving family & friends. Those left to cherish his memory are: Loving Wife: Gloria Rogers; Children: Robert (Denise) Rogers, Bethany (Dennis) Baumgartner and David (Jenny) Rogers; Step-Children: Mickey (Tina) Calhoun, Randy (Brianne) Calhoun and C.J. Calhoun; Grandchildren: Rob & Andy Rogers, Molly & Cole Baumgartner, Seth & Evan Rogers, Azia, Prezton, Jazmine Calhoun and Raina Calhoun, and Brother: Jim (Vickie) Rogers. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and step-father: Eugene VanHoose. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 6-8PM, Monday, August 01, 2016 at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00AM, Tuesday, August 02, 2016 at the funeral home. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held from 12-2:00PM, Tuesday, August 02 at the Catawba Island Club, 4235 E. Beach Club Rd., Port Clinton, OH 43452.
