Robert Bob Knox Riddick, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at his daughters home in Toledo, OH with his family at his side. Bob was born September 27, 1928 in Louisville, KY to David James and Ola Riddick. On July 28, 1947, Bob married Ragna Hoel. Bob began his career in the automotive industry with GM in 1948 in Cleveland, OH and continued with the company after relocating with his family to Detroit, MI. During his years with GM, he worked his way up from sweeper to plant manager. After retiring from GM, he worked at Lear Corp. until age 76. Surviving are his wife, Ragna; sons, Bob Joana of Hendersonville, TN and Danny Vicki of Adrian, MI; daughters, Ola Lloyd Jacobs of Ottawa Hills, OH, Becky Mike Kotts of Roscommon, MI, and Lori Cory Rodriguez of Dearborn, MI; grandkids, Jeff Lisa Simpson, Niki Mark Dzwik, Garrett Simpson, Andy Jacobs, Tara Riddick, Kai Kotts, Benjamin Jacobs, Bob Riddick III, Drew Rodriguez, Chris Riddick and Ryan Riddick; great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Pierce Simpson and Luke and Addie Dzwik. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dan Riddick; and grandson, Ian Simpson. Bob was a devoted Christian husband, father and grandfather, who indelibly touched the lives of his loved ones. Most notably, he was the embodiment of a strong work ethic and an unshakeable faith in God. He was a very special man with strong convictions who freely gave of himself. Bobs family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at UT Medical Center for their care and support over the last two years. Also, thank you to the staff of Heartland Hospice for their compassion and guidance during Bobs final weeks. Visitation will be held Friday, January 21, 2011 from 3-8:00 pm at his daughters home, 3883 Bancroft St. Toledo, OH 43606. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make memorial gifts to the UT Foundation and note UTMC Cancer Research, attention Roland Skeel and P.K. Chudhuri.
