Robert Spud Remy of Toledo, OH passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania. Spud was born February 27, 1927 in Milford, IN, the son of Harold and Maxine Remy. He grew up in Rochester, IN where his father was a Kroger Manager for 30 years. Spud graduated from Rochester High School in 1945 and has always been Spud since playing that character in a school play at R.H.S. After serving in the U.S. Navy as a Radio Man aboard the ammunition ship, USS Sangay, Spud took advantage of the G.I. Bill and attended Manchester College, the University of Tampa, and graduated from the University of New Mexico- where he learned how to spell Albuquer-kee (oops?). He retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1987 after 30 years of industrial engineering assignments at Kokomo, New Castle, IN, the Power Train Group staff in Detroit and as the Industrial Engineering Supervisor at the Toledo Machining Plant in Ohio. Spud enjoyed woodworking, fly-fishing and many wonderful adventures with his wife, Gloria, while traveling to England, most of Europe, Alaska, Panama, Africa, Canada, and South America. Oh what a wonderful life it has been!!! - and it was her fault. Spud was a member of the Toledo Zoo, a Life Member of the Toledo Area Metro Parks and served on the Wildwood Metroparks V.I.P. Board of Volunteers in Parks where he was involved in several fundraising activities. Spud is survived by his glorious wife, Gloria, of Toledo; and his niece, Lorna Moor of Angola, IN. His sister, Wanda, preceded him in death in 1997. A graveside service will be held in Spring at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rochester, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the Toledo Zoo or Toledo Area Metroparks.
