Robert Netz

Robert M. Netz, 90, of Perrysburg, passed away Friday, September 21, 2018 at Perrysburg Commons, surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born July 28, 1928 in Perrysburg, Ohio to Ralph and Alliene (Stalder) Netz. Robert attended Perrysburg High School and graduated from BGSU where he played football. He taught at Brookside High School, Genoa High School, Harris Elmore High School, and Woodmore High School. He taught health and physical education. He was a successful coach for 30 years. He coached track, basketball, and football and made a positive impact on many athletes. He built the first track at Harris Elmore High School with the help of students and others. His track record included 11 Lakeshore Conference championships in a row and many of his athletes competed at state. In addition to teaching and coaching, Bob was past president and manager of Jimmerson Shores Co-Op for 28 years. He also sold insurance for many years. After retirement he and Patricia moved to Angola, Indiana where they attended Fairview Missionary Church. He also served in the US Army Reserves. Surviving are his wife of 60 years; daughter, Nancy Haenlein, sons, R. Michael Netz and Thomas Netz; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The service will be held at 7:30 PM with a celebration of his life to follow at St Johns United Church of Christ, 448 Rice Street, Elmore Ohio, 43416 on September 27, 2018. Burial will be private at Fort Meigs Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Robert M. Netz Memorial Fund at any Fifth Third Bank or at the service. The family would like to give special thanks to the nursing staff at Perrysburg Commons and Heartland Hospice.
