Robert Robbie John McCracken, age 17, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 in Findlay, OH. He was senior at Findlay High School. He loved working at Texas Roadhouse where he was well liked and considered a great busboy. He attended the Academy at Soar in North Carolina, where he made many close friends from around the country. While at the academy, he traveled extensively while studying. He visited the Everglades and Florida Keys, learning to scuba dive, eventually earning his PADI advanced open water certification. He went to Costa Rica, which he fell in love with, while there he honed his taste for coffee. Robbie always seemed to find himself around water. Later he traveled to Yucatan and explored the Myan Ruins. He even had the privilege of hiking and camping at Canyon Land State Park He learned to snorkel at 5 and drove his mothers little outboard motorboat at the age of 1 1/2. He won some sailing competions on Cayuga Lake in NY. He loved the outdoors and nature. He would find insects and spiders in the house and return them to the outdoors unharmed. He enjoyed rock climbing, repelling and hiking. He was an avid fan of music with a very wide range of styles. He has attended Camp Berry in Findlay since he was in the first grade, and worked there as a counselor for the past two years. He recently was inducted into the Order of Arrow. He became quite skilled with both rifle pistol and was working on improving his shotgun skills. He had great patience which gave him the ability to fix and repair anything, especially cars. Robbie was fiercely independent and very determined person, who did things with a great deal of purpose. He will be remembered for his giving heart and his enthusiasm to lend a hand to anyone who needed his help. He is survived by his parents, Charles and Ann (DeVictor) McCracken; siblings, George McCracken, Abbie (Seith) Duffie; grandmother, Shirley DeVictor; Aunt, Jackie Dismuke; uncle, David (Pam) DeVictor; great aunt, Mary Lou Nickel and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John DeVictor, Robert Marjorie McCracken. Friends may visit the family on Monday from 4-8PM at Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave (west of Corey Rd) with Trisagion prayers at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held in Findlay at later date. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Academy at Soar 226 Soar Lane P.O. Box 388 Balsam, NC 28707 or Camp Berry 2100 Broad Ave Findlay, OH 45840.
