Robert Paul Lumm, Jr.

March 19, 1953 — September 23, 2018

Robert Paul Lumm, Jr., 65, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2018. Robert, affectionately known as Bobby, was born in Toledo in 1953 and was a loyal Toledoan for all of his 65 years. The oldest of four siblings, he was raised in Ottawa Hills and was a proud member of the Toledo Club and many other local organizations. He worked passionately in his familys sheet metal contracting business from a young age until the company was sold. His mother, Ann Lumm, passed away when Bobby was in college. At her funeral he met the new owner of the family business, Bob Irsay, ultimately heading the A.H. Lumm Division of Irsays company for many years before shifting to automotive industry recruiting and starting his own business, which he ran for over 20 years. Bobby met Karen Margaret Petersen at Miami University. The two married in Mackinac Island in 1986 and had their daughter, Logan, in 1988. Bobby lived a vibrant life and crammed in many remarkable experiences: A stint at the Rainbow Bar and Grill in Los Angeles, travels across the globe including a treasured trip to Australia with his daughter, visits to Indy 500 races, the Kentucky Debry, and many football games at the Big House. He was a proud Mason, Shriner and supporter of the Toledo Zoo. Bobby loved watching sports, driving fast cars, listening to music on the best sound equipment available, dancing, laughing, and being at the center of things. He was grand, extravagant, and unforgettable. When Bobby was in the room, you knew it. He was also complex and challenging, but unapologetically himself. Bobby was preceded in death by his mother, Ann Lumm; father, Robert Lumm, Sr. He is survived by his siblings, Fred Lumm of Toledo, Ohio, Paula (George) Hunker of Lander, Wyoming, and Margo (Marty) Dettelbach of Raleigh, North Carolina and their families; daughter, Logan Ann Taylor and her husband, Daniel Taylor of Austin, Texas; and Logans mother, Karen Petersen Lumm of Toledo, Ohio. In his own words, there is no one who has done what Ive done. The stories of those adventures will live on with his family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 3-8:00pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave., where services will begin on Friday at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, Florida 33607.
