Robert John Lajti, 58, of Elmore, OH passed away surrounded by his loving family early Monday, September 4, 2023 at his home. He was born on January 6, 1965 in Toledo, OH to Frank J. and Barbara L. (Gackstetter) Lajti. On July 31, 1993 in Elmore, he married Machell Geldien, and she survives. Rob previously owned and operated the Limestone Tavern from 2008-2018, which was his passion and dream job. He continued to work there after he sold the business. Prior to that he worked as a truck driver and also at the Ottawa County Garage. He was a member of The Sons of the American Legion and helped at their fish fries. Rob enjoyed cutting wood, traveling, and playing cards. Rob will be remembered as a family man, who loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Alli. He loved to entertain and being around family and friends. Rob loved drinking beer, being outdoors, 4-wheeling, and gardening. There was always someone stopping by the house to visit with him. He liked to barbeque and was considered a real grill master by his family and friends. He got his love of cooking from his mom.
In addition to his loving wife of 30 years, Machell, he is survived by his children, Travis (Brandi) Lajti and Kay “Kaci” Lajti; grandchildren, Alli Buhrow, Charlotte and Eowyn; siblings, JoAnne (Tom) Bowman, Don (Jan) Lajti, Dick Lajti, Raymond Lajti, Sandy (Ed) Albright, Joe (Jeanne) Lajti, Barb “Odie” Lajti, and Jeff (Christie) Lajti; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank and David Lajti; and nephew, Jake Lajti.
Family and friends are welcome to gather from 4-7 p.m. Monday, September 11, 2023 at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor to celebrate Rob’s life, which will conclude with a “Just One More” Farewell Toast of his favorite Budweiser beer. There will be a Celebration of Life for Rob on Saturday, September 23, 2023 starting at 4pm - ? at the family homestead. Memorial contributions in memory of Rob may be given in care of the family either at the funeral home or through Rob’s tribute page on the funeral home website or Hospice of Northwest Ohio may be considered as well.
