Robert D. Johnston age 84, died peacefully on Tuesday April 25, 2023, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born May 10, 1938, in Ridgewood NJ to parents Maxine (Dannenberg) and B. Lytton Johnston. After growing up in Ridgewood NJ he attended and graduated from St. Lawrence University in Canton NY where he met the love of his life Melinda Leithead. The couple wed on September 1, 1961, in New York, NY.

After serving in the United States Army Rob joined Owens Corning Fiberglass, and held several different positions across different Divisions. After leaving Owens Corning Rob owned or partnered in local businesses to include Young Equipment, USCA, aboutGolf, and InSim. Rob also served as President of the Ohio Petroleum Marketers Association for many years.

As a 54 year resident of Perrysburg Rob was involved in many Clubs and organizations. He was a member of Laurel Hill Swim and Tennis Club, The Toledo Club, and longtime member of The Belmont Country Club where he held positions as the Golf Committee Chair, and Golf Representative to the TDGA. Rob and Melinda enjoyed all the activities at Belmont CC to include Tennis, Platform Tennis, Swimming, Golf, and the many Social Events that they attended. Rob also served as President of the Toledo District Golf Association.

Robbie J lived life to the fullest with a big smile and twinkle in his eye. He may not have known anyone when arriving to an outing or event, but never left one without having many new friends. He also enjoyed all the many activities and sporting events his grandchildren participated in.

Robert was preceded in death by wife Melinda, December 28, 2019. He is survived by his brother George (Ann) Johnston, Needham, MA, son Barry (Molly) Johnston, Perrysburg, OH, daughter Morgan (John)Earl, Ridgewood, NJ, and grandchildren Robert, Daniel (Madelon), and Maxwell Johnston, Baker, and Maxine Earl, niece Margaret (Peter) Boyes, San Diego, CA.

Visitation for Robert will be held on Monday May 22, 2023, from 11:30 AM until the time of his Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 PM at Grace Church Perrysburg, 601 East Boundary St Perrysburg, OH 43551. A celebration reception will be held at Belmont Country Club 29601 Bates Road, Perrysburg, OH following the ceremony.
