Robert F. Hillman

Robert F. Hillman 82, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away, Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, OH. He was born on February 29, 1928 in Plain City, OH, the son of Carlton and Ada Belle Sherwood Hillman. On October 06, 1983 in Ormand Beach, FL, he married Virginia Ginny Purcell and she survives. Robert worked as a maintenance foreman for New Departure, Sandusky, OH until his retirement. He was a pilot and flew for 35 years and was a member of the Tin Goose Chapter #1247. Robert loved collecting cars. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church, Port Clinton, OH. Robert was a member of the Moose Lodge #1610, Port Clinton, OH and the Eagles Aerie #490. He was the #1 fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Cleveland Browns. Robert loved the water and Lake Erie. He loved spending time on Middle Bass Island. Robert will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Survivors include: Loving Wife: Virginia Ginny Hillman of Port Clinton, OH; Daughters: Vicki Marc McClain of Marblehead, OH, Debbie John Swartz of Bellevue, OH, Kathy Mike Schneider of Marblehead, OH and Barb Mike Linder of Naples, FL; Son: Thomas E. Hillman of Bellevue, OH; Daughter-in-Law: Kathy Hillman of Bellevue, OH; 11 Grandchildren; 14 Great-Grandchildren; Sisters: Mary Ellen Kopendofer of Sommerset, KY and Jean Fitz of Castalia, OH; Brother: Tom Baldwin of Marysville, OH. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, brother: William Hillman, sisters: Jane Perry and Doris Kaelin. Visitation will be from 4-8PM, Friday, April 30, 2010 in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Bruce Batchelor-Glader at 11:00AM, Saturday, May 01, 2010 in the funeral home. Interment will be in Catawba Island Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH.
