Robert E. Higley

Robert E. Higley, 90, passed away Monday, April 16, 2012 at the Manor of Perrysburg. Robert was born August 13, 1921 in Swanton, Ohio to Earl and Opal Higley. Bob served our country as a sergeant in the United States Army during WWII. He married Bea J. Sprague on June 26, 1943 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by Bea (April 4, 1997) and his sister Irene Dozier. Bob was a real estate agent for Opper& McCardel Real Estate of Lansing, Michigan retiring in 1984. He enjoyed driving, motorcycles, his grandchildren, and telling his much celebrated Penguin joke. Bob was a member of Perrysburg’s American Legion, Post 28. He is survived by his sisters Donna Kael of Hamilton, IN and Jane (Bob) Joehlin of Eaton Rapids MI, children, Judy Price of Toledo and TJ (Juanita) Higley of Gas City, IN, grandchildren Jamie Price, Jenny Rahm, both of Toledo and Chris (Sherri) Higley of Pulaski, VA, and ten great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Saturday, April 21, 2012 from 9-10:30 A.M. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133) where funeral services will begin at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in Fort Meigs Union Cemetery.
