Robert E. Hayes, Sr., 81, of Genoa passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born on December 19, 1936 in Saxton, KY to Hortense and Margaret (Wilder) Hayes. On August 17, 1954 in LaGrange, IN he married Donna A. Waddell, and she preceded him in death on February 14, 2003. Robert worked as a meat cutter and owner of the former Hay-Lo Market in Genoa. He also worked previously for Josephs Supermarkets, Kellys IGA, A&P, and retired from Ace Hardware in Perrysburg in 2003. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Genoa. Robert coached softball in Genoa for years, played dart ball for several years, loved to sing Karaoke and dance the Twist, attended local sporting events of family members, and was a PB&J on toast connoisseur. He was known as a very engaging conversationalist, especially on local issues, and tried to keep it simple and to the point. Robert loved his family and his dog, Dewey. Robert is survived by his children, Sharon R. Dippman, Karen L. (Gary) Kapp, and Bobby E. (Julie) Hayes, Jr., grandchildren, Carrie, Kelly (Deanna), K.C., Thomas, Chandler, Alex, Anthony, Mason, and Olivia, great grandchildren, Kai and Lennon, and sister, Betty Sue Reeder. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Wallace Lockhart, wife, and granddaughter, Jaclyn. Visitation for Robert will be 2-8 p.m., Monday, July 30, 2018 at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, OH. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. Memorial contributions in memory of Robert may be given to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg or Allen Clay Joint Fire District Station #36, Genoa.
