Robert Lee Harder, Jr., 78, of Oak Harbor, OH passed away Friday, September 15, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 13, 1945 in Port Clinton, OH to Robert Lee and Odessa Martha (Knopp) Harder, Sr. Bob graduated from Salem Oak Harbor High School in 1963. On July 17, 1965 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Blackberry Corners, he married Betty Kay Rounds, and she survives. Bob retired from Ford Motor Co. in 1998 after 33 years. He was a charter member of the Carroll Township Volunteer Fire Department and a longtime member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor. Bob liked to walk around town, being known as the “town walker”. He enjoyed playing video poker at the casino, playing in their euchre card club with friends, and in his younger years hunting and fishing. Bob deeply loved his grandkids and he will be greatly missed.
In addition to his loving wife of over 58 years, Betty, he is survived by his children, Beth Ann (Rodney) Biggert and Brian (Melissa) Harder, grandchildren, Robert & Rylie Harder, sister, Candee (Tom) Dewitz, nephew, Tony (Jill) Dewitz, and aunt, Corabelle Kajando. He was preceded in death by his parents, nephew, Troy Thomas Dewitz, maternal grandparents, Ernest & Lizzie (Schultz) Knopp, and paternal grandparents, Henry & Mildred (Brough) Harder.
Visitation for Bob will be Sunday, September 17, 2023 from 2-8 p.m. at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. The family suggests casual dress as Bob would have wanted it. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Becky Bolander 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 18, 2023 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 122 W. Ottawa St., Oak Harbor with burial to follow in Elliston Cemetery, Elliston, OH. Memorial contributions in memory of Bob may be given to St. John Ev.
