Robert J. Rev. Hahn

Reverend Robert J. Hahn, 79, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away Friday, March 04 2011 at Edgewood Manor Nursing Center in Port Clinton. He was born on February 22, 1932 in Kansas City, MO, the son of John Albert and Esther Emma Zerbst Hahn. Bob graduated from J. Sterling Morton High School in Chicago, IL. In 1954, he graduated with a Bachelors Degree from North Central College in Naperville, IL. Three years later, he attained his Master of Divinity Degree from Evangelical Theological Seminary, also in Naperville. On June 19, 1954, he married his first wife, Ruth Ellen Dietzel in Cleveland Heights, OH and she preceded him in death on May 15, 1998. On June 24, 2000, in Port Clinton, OH, he married Ida Bacso Hizer and she survives. Pastor Bob was an Ordained Elder in the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church, retiring in 1994. During his 40 years of active ministry, Rev. Hahn served churches in Niles, Akron, Parma, Macedonia, Ontario, and Port Clinton, Ohio. In his retirement, he was an associate pastor at churches in Stuart and Oviedo, FL. Bob Hahns greatest legacy occurred in 1968 when he co-founded the OPEN-M Ecumenical Neighborhood Ministry in Akron, Ohio. He has been a long-standing Rotarian and Paul Harris Fellow. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church and sang in the Chancel Choir. Pastor Bobs zest for life and caring spirit will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Survivors include: Loving Wife: Ida Ruth Hahn of Port Clinton, OH; Sons: Mark Robert Nancy Hahn of Solon, OH, Timothy Jackie Hahn of Cleveland, OH, Andrew David Hahn of Strongsville, OH and Dr. Fernando Rosa Maria Tricta Jr. of Toronto, Canada; Brother: Roger John Sue Hahn of Western Springs, IL; Brother-in-law: Rev. David Marlene Dietzel of North Fort Myers, FL and 8 Grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife: Ruth Ellen Dietzel Hahn. Visitation will be from 10AM to 12PM, Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 135 Adams Street, Port Clinton, OH, followed by a memorial service at 12:00PM. A committal & gathering of friends will be held at 2:00PM, Sunday, March 27 at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 5930 State Road, Parma, OH 44134. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested that memorial contributions in memory of Bob may be directed to Trinity United Methodist Church, Port Clinton, OH, Stein Hospice, Sandusky, OH and Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Parma, OH. Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH, assisted the family with arrangements.
