It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert J. Gottschalk II, known affectionately as Bobby, who passed away at the age of 61 on February 16, 2025. Bobby was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Bobby was born in Toledo and grew up down the street from his high school sweetheart, Colleen. They were married on November 8, 1986, and recently celebrated 38 years together. Bobby’s family moved to Oregon during his junior year and he was a proud graduate of Clay High School, class of 1982. He devoted nearly four decades of his life to working at Chrysler in several positions, including team leader. He retired in November 2023 after 39 years of dedicated service.
Bobby had a passion and pride for all that he did in his life. He loved spending time with his family, whether on vacation, boating, or traveling as part of the pit crew for his father’s NHRA alcohol funny car. Bobby’s love for football was unwavering playing in high school and being an enthusiastic supporter of both Ohio State and the Chicago Bears. Yet, his favorite place to be in the world was Sanibel Island, Florida, where he cherished the time with his beloved wife.
Bobby was known for his no-nonsense attitude and positive, loving spirit. His kindness, humor, and generosity touched the hearts of everyone he met. His memory will live on in the countless stories shared by his family and friends.
Bobby was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Clark. He is survived by his devoted wife, Colleen Gottschalk; his sons, Robert (Amy) Gottschalk and Joshua Gottschalk (Danni Jacobs); his cherished grandchildren, RJ, Avery, and Frankie Gottschalk, father, Robert (Donna) Gottschalk; his brother, Chad (Celia) Gottschalk; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
