Robert A. Gerkensmeyer, 86, of Martin, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Bay Park Hospital, Oregon, Ohio. He was born on May 28, 1934 to Ruth (Walp) and Herman Gerkensmeyer. He was a graduate of Genoa High School, class of 1952. Robert worked for Daimler Chrysler Toledo Machining for over 31 years, retiring in 1999. He was a devoted member of the Genoa Masonic Lodge F & AM #433, 32nd Degree, Valley of Toledo , Zenobia Shrine Motorcycle Escorts and the U.A.W. Local #1435. Robert is survived by his wife, Janet, daughter, Robin (John) Coleman and two granddaughters, Madelyn (Daniel Roundtree) and Molly. Madelyn and Molly adored their grandpa and he adored them! He took great pride and pleasure in watching them grow and thrive. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Robert, Jr. There will be a graveside service for Robert on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 11 AM in the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa, Ohio. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Shriners Hospital, 3229 Burnet Ave. Cincinnati, OH 45229 or Browning Masonic Community, 8883 Browning Dr., Waterville, OH 43566. Arrangements are being handled by the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Genoa, Ohio. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
