Robert M. Fox, Jr.

Robert Matheson Fox, Jr., age 80, passed away December 13, 2015 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo with his family by his side. He was born May 6, 1935 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Robert and Kathryn (Wolfe) Fox. Bob was a graduate of the University of Michigan High School and earned his bachelors degree from Lawrence University in Appleton, WI. He would later gain his MBA from the University of Toledo. Bob began his career in 1965 with Merrill Lynch and worked for 48 years as a financial advisor, retiring from Morgan Stanley. He also attained the rank of Sergeant in the National Guard. Bob was always active in community service. He participated in Bible studies and was on the First Baptist Church Board, volunteered at Cherry Street Mission and was a member of the Toledo Museum of Art, University of Toledo Tower Club and Phi Beta Theta Fraternity. In his free time, Bob enjoyed singing in church and school choirs, attending any Michigan Wolverine sporting event, playing tennis, Bridge and golf, especially his many years at Highland Meadows Country Club and Stone Oak Country Club. He truly appreciated the support of his Stone Oak neighbors and their friendship during the illness of his wife, Carol. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Matheson Fox III and Kristi (House) and their children, Matthew and David; daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and Daniel McCaughey and their children, Grace and Emma; sister, Rosanna Miller; and nephew, Theron Miller. Bob was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m., Sunday, December 20, 2015 in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 21, 2015. Bob participated in a University of Michigan experimental cancer program that saved thousands of lives thanks to Dr. Butch Weinstein, to whom Bob was very grateful. The family would also like to thank the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the excellent care they took of Bob in the last six weeks of his life.
