On the evening of November 11, 2016 Robert “Bob” Lees, 84, of Perrysburg, passed peacefully from this world into the next while under the care of Hospice. He will be greatly missed by friends and family. He lived most of his life in Perrysburg. Bob graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1951. He married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Grames, in August of that year. They were married for 17 years. He leaves behind children; Richard (Lynda) Lees, Barbara (Mike) Katafias, Julie (Bob) Kottenstette; three granddaughters – Jennifer (Barry) Beale, Kimberly Katafias, Angela (Craig) Theis; three grandsons – Robert Adam (Kristina) Kottenstette, Thomas James Kottenstette, and Michael Lees; and four great grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents – Harold H. and Edna Wolfe Lees, his sisters, Dorothy Soldwich and Virginia Bellner, and his brothers Harold, Jr. and William. He lived a life of service. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserves, 35 years as a volunteer on the Perrysburg Fire Department rising to the rank of Captain, 36 years as a member of the Ohio Moose Association rising to the highest level of service – Pilgrim. He worked at the Neiderhouse Gulf Oil Station from high school until 1965. He tended bar at the Old Plantation Restaurant in Maumee until it closed. Along the way he painted many homes and businesses in the Perrysburg area, learned carpentry, and electrical wiring and started his own business after the Old Plantation closed. He finally retired in his 70’s to help his neighbors – mowing grass and blowing snow. He will be missed by many. Following his wishes, there will not be formal funeral services. He asked to be cremated and placed in the Fort Meigs Union Cemetery. The family plans on having a celebration of Life for Bob sometime in the near future. A notice will be placed in the local papers when the date and time are decided upon. Memorials may be made in Bob’s name to either Mooseheart Child City and School, Mooseheart, IL 60539 or Moosehaven City of Contentment, 1701 Park Ave, Orange Park, FL 32073. Arrangements were entrusted to Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133).
