Robert E. “Bob” Payne, 73, of Gypsum , Ohio passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at his home. He was born on September 11, 1946 in Port Clinton, the son of the late Orville and Irma (Yoder) Payne. He was a 1964 graduate of Port Clinton High School. On May 15, 1982, he married Terrie Fusko and she survives. Bob worked in construction for 45 years, beginning with his father at OD Payne Construction, then worked at Gluth & Gardner and Masonry Construction, and finally he owned and operated his own business, RE Payne Construction until his retirement. He was a member of the Port Clinton Eagles Lodge Aerie 2295 as well as the Port Clinton Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1610. In his past time he enjoyed working around the house and tinkering with various projects. He also enjoyed being in the outdoors and going camping. He was a hard worker, and known for being a “True Blue” University of Michigan fan. He enjoyed making people laugh as he had a great sense of humor. Survivors include his loving wife, Terrie; sons, William Payne and Daniel Payne; grandson, Brandon Payne; brother, Tom Payne, best friends, Bob and Mary Gardner; as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jack Payne. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 from 2-4 pm at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton, Ohio. Due to the current pandemic, the family asks that anyone who is sick or has concerns to please refrain from attending. Social distancing and hand hygiene restrictions will be observed during visitation.
