Robert Doty

Robert “Bob” Lewis Doty passed away unexpectedly at home on January 7, 2024. He was 58.

Bob was born in Marion, Ohio on March 22, 1965, to Carl and Shirley (Johnson) Doty. Bob attended Marion Catholic High School, where he lettered in football, basketball, and track. Bob received his Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Dayton in 1987. He then received his law degree at the University of Toledo, where he met his wife of 30 years, Beverly (Cox). Together, Bob and Bev raised two children, Jake and Morgan, who were the center of his world.

Bob worked in the Collections Enforcement Section of the Ohio Attorney General’s office for nearly 20 years. He previously enjoyed assisting students at the University of Toledo as a Student Legal Services staff attorney.

Outside of work, Bob could be found coaching his children’s sports teams or playing “lawyer league” softball. Bob enjoyed traveling with his family (especially to the beach), fishing with his nephews, classic rock, Amazon Prime, ice cream, and rooting for his Miami Dolphins with his kids. However, second only to his family, Bob’s greatest love was THE Ohio State Buckeyes. He will be remembered for his laugh, his neighborhood kickball games, his vivacious stories, and most of all, his ability to love everyone that came into his life as if they were family.

Bob will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Bev, children, Jacob and Morgan Doty, mother, Shirley Doty, siblings Dora Doty, Cindy (Joel) Althouse, Lynn (Ron) Craig, and Carl “Andy” (Julie) Doty, brother-in-law, Ron (Sharon) Cox, sisters-in-law Connie Paxton, Peggy Mabrey, Gina (Steve) Mercer, Luann (Kevin) Davis and Erin Cox, along with many treasured nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, Carl Doty; father-in-law, Ray Cox; mother-in-law Jean Cox; brothers-in-law Dennis Cox and Marv Paxton; and uncles Harlon and Bob Johnson.

A visitation will be held at Walker Funeral Home (5155 W. Sylvania Ave.) on Saturday, January 13, from 11 am to 7 pm with a funeral service beginning at 1 pm.
