Robert Lewis Dazell

September 14, 1927 — February 2, 2021

Our loving parents, Ruth, 92, and Robert (Bob) 93, passed away peacefully 5 days apart from each other. Ruth and Bob were married on July 16, 1949. They had the opportunity to renew their vows on their 70th wedding anniversary in 2019, at the nursing home where they resided. They raised 5 children together. Ruth was born November 15, 1928 in Toledo, OH to George and Mabel (Pollex) Lark. She passed away on January 28, 2021. Ruth attended Olney School from kindergarten through high school. Ruth held various jobs, including Libbey Glass, where she was employed for nearly 25 years, retiring in 1988. She was an active member of the Libbey Glass Employee Group where she and Bob enjoyed many outings. Mom will be remembered most for her deep love for her family and her compassionate caring for each one of us. She treasured times spent together. Because of her dazzling personality, cheerful nature, heart of gold, and her sweetness, our mother was always a joy to be around. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, and activities, playing games, (with bingo being her favorite) word searches, cooking, (she was famous for her potato salad), and giving the best hugs ever! She had a sweet tooth for her Hershey bars, and an absolute necessity for her freshly brewed coffee. Bob was born September 14, 1927, in Toledo, Ohio, to Harold and Margaret (Prior) Dazell. He passed away February 2, 2021. After attending school, he enlisted in the Army and served near the end of World War II where he was stationed in Japan. Bob was a hard worker. He was a manager of a gas station, a mechanic, and a carpenter. Later he was employed by Dana Corporation where he retired in 1987. He truly took on his responsibility of providing for his family and home. He didn’t like for us to go to a service station, he could do it! Bob was a member in REACT (Radio Emergency Associated Communication Teams) which was one of the ways he could help others in need. Bob was a great provider, gave great advice, always eager to lend a helping hand. He was very outgoing, friendly and loved to tease others in a good-natured way. Dad enjoyed camping and in his later years RVing with Mom. He liked to relax watching TV and listening to music. People gravitated to Dad for his fun-loving personality. Leaving behind to cherish their memory are their daughters: Linda (Charles) McDowell, Nancy (Jacob) Myers and Susan (Gregory) Watson Daughter-in-laws: Sharon Dazell and Becky Dazell Their many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren They were preceded in death by their sons: Jerry Dazell, Sr., David Dazell and grandson: Jerry Dazell, Jr. Visitation will be held from 1:00–4:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021 in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.). A celebration of their lives will be held in the summer. May God bless the wonderful staff at Hickory Ridge of Temperance for their loving care of our Parents.
