Robert D Smith

Robert “Bob” D. Smith, 61, of Walbridge, Ohio, passed unexpectedly on February 12, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was born to Bernard B. and Donna J. (Hohenberger) Smith in Toledo, Ohio on August 8, 1954. He graduated from Anthony Wayne High School while working at The Andersons Fab Shop, where he remained working for over 20 years. During that time, Robert met the love of his life, Julie. Julie and Robert married May 2, 1981 in Oregon, Ohio. He also worked at Hunger Hydraulics in Rossford, Ohio, and later worked as a steel fabricator at Furn Tech in Waterville, Ohio for over 10 years. Bob was always at his happiest when he was outside. He loved being with his son, Randall, when he was in the Cub Scouts. Bob enjoyed the activities that would involve him and his son being together, and his favorite was the Indian pow-wows. Bob was a volunteer for VICA – the Vocational Industrial Club of America and felt a true passion towards the club. He helped the competition by preparing months in advance, setting up at the actual site location, creating the projects, and judging the final results. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Julie A. Roe-Smith; mother, Donna J. Smith; son Randall W. Smith; granddaughter Cadence M. Smith; brothers Joseph (Katy) Smith and Thomas (Teri) Smith; best friend and brother-in-law Rick Roe; best friend and sister-in-law Rosalie Smithers; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Robert is preceded in death by his father, Bernard B. Smith. Friends and family will be received on Friday February 19, 2016 from 2:00-8:00 pm. at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 701 N. Main St. Walbridge, Ohio 43465 (419-666-3121). Funeral services for Robert will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 11:00 am.
