Robert W. Conn

Robert Walter Bob Conn age 82 of Maumee passed away on Wednesday September 21, 2011 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born in Toledo, OH on December 7, 1928 to Walter and Hazel Miller Conn. He grew up in Lambertville, MI and attended Lambertville Schools. He was a Navy veteran serving in the South Pacific. Bob met and married his sweetheart Phyllis Smith on August 2, 1952 at St. Johns Methodist Church in Toledo. He was a longtime member of Maumee United Methodist Church. Bob was retired from Interstate Motor Freight since 1984. He then was employed with Liquid Carbonic and Bodetts Marine Supply. Bob was a member of Teamsters Local 20 and volunteered at Bayview Senior Golf Course. Bob and Phyllis enjoyed the last 14 winters in Palmetto, FL at Jet Park. He was an avid fisherman, golfer, bowler, camper, Michigan Go Blue, Browns and Tigers fan. But his greatest joy was his family. Surviving is his loving wife of 59 Years, Phyllis Smith Conn; daughters, Debra Keith Vozel of Centerville, OH; Pamela Lanny May of Toledo; grandchildren, Traci Vozel, Gregory Alexandria Vozel, Randy May and Logan May; great grandson, Carter Vozel; sisters in-law, Glenna Conn, Peggy Don Spychalski and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald and sisters, Carol and June. Friends and family may call at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home 501 Conant St., Maumee on Friday September 23, 2011 from 2-8 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday at Maumee United Methodist Church 405 Sackett St. Maumee from 10:00 am until the time of services at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Maumee United Methodist Church.
