Robert Coach Nichols

Robert J. Nichols, 82, was born in born in Grand Haven MI , raised in Jackson, MI, where he attended St. Johns School. Bob received his received Bachelor and Masters Degree from the University of Toledo. He served honorably in the U.S. Army, near the end of the Korean War. Bob went on to coach at Central Catholic High School, BGSU and the University of Toledo as well as Eckerd College, and more recently at, Christ the King School and Sylvania St. Joes. Lucky enough to marry Barbara Uhler in 1953, they were fruitful and multiplied. Their 6 children survive him; Bob Jr, married to Lisa Olman Sally Jo, Nancy partner Julie Mulder , Jim , Janie married to Bill Wiciak and Mary Pat married to Brad Weston. Bob had a bunch of grandchildren including, Michael , Nick, John, Barbara, Jason, Nikki, A.J., Jeremy, Josh and Dustin. All of the grandkids really loved Grandpa Coach. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Patricia Nichols and his two brothers Tom and Jimmy. Friends may visit on Thursday, April 4th from 2:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, just west of Corey. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at The Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, 2240 Castlewood Drive, on Friday April 5th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the University of Toledo Foundation, The Bob and Barbara Nichols Scholarship Fund or please make a contribution in Bob s name to a charity of your choice.
