Robert Earl Bunce, Sr.

Robert Earl Bunce, Sr., 67, of Maumee, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 13, 2008 in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 29, 1941 in Maumee, OH to Earl August and Lucille Barbara Wolfram Bunce. Bob received his Associates degree in Law Enforcement from the University of Toledo, and served as Police Chief for the Maumee Police Department for 37 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Resurrection Lutheran Church and served as past president, treasurer and secretary of the Ohio Association of the Chiefs of Police. Bob is survived by his wife of 37 years, Shelley Lynn Harrison Bunce whom he married March 20, 1971; son, Robert Jill Bunce, Jr.; daughter, Wendy Steven Sr. Bunce Babione; grandchildren, Stephanie Matthew Heinemann, Kimberly Bunce, Tyler Brittni Bunce, Chelsea Babione, Eleni Babione and Steven Babione, Jr.; great grandchildren, Chloe Bunce, Aaliyah Claybourne and Makayla Heinemann; sisters, Mary Lou Collins, Rita Klar, Fran Weis, Pat Weis, Mary Worchuck, Judy Williams and Theresa Babcock. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Diane and brothers, Charles and Aloysius Magrum and sister, Susan Magrum. Family and friends may visit Monday from 3-8 p.m. in the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, OH. Funeral services will begin Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with services at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 2250 S Holland Sylvania Road, Maumee, Ohio, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Resurrection Lutheran Church. www.walkerfuneralhomes.com
