Robert Howard Brebberman

Robert “Bob” Howard Brebberman, 97, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2023, at his home in the loving presence of his family. He was born on May 10, 1926, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to his late parents, Howard and Gladys (Bultman) Brebberman, where he spent his early years before the family moved to Springfield, Ohio. He kept deep ties to his roots in Indiana, and became the family genealogist, tracing the family history to 17th century Germany.

Bob graduated from Springfield High School. He then enlisted in the United States Army and served in World War II. He attended Ohio State University, earning a degree in civil engineering. While in college, he met his wife, Anne Brebberman, whom he married in 1950, and the two relocated to Toledo. They shared 54 years of marriage together until her passing in 2004.

Professionally, he worked locally as a civil engineer where he contributed to many highway projects in the Toledo area. He was an avid fan of OSU football. Go Bucks! He had many hobbies including gardening, playing his ukulele or guitar, and twice-weekly bridge games at the senior center. He enjoyed the outdoors in general and participated in various golf leagues. He was the patriarch of the Brebberman Family corn roast, and will continue to be celebrated with this annual tradition.

Bob was an easy-going individual with a great sense of humor. Always an engineer, he was often working on the solution to some knotty technical problem. He was a respected source of counsel for family and friends. He was a loving and beloved husband and father, and will be so missed by all who loved him.

Bob is survived by his children, Lynn (David Cislo) Brebberman, Howard (Amber Rathburn) Brebberman, John Brebberman; grandchildren, Tyler Brebberman, Connor Cislo, Emily Mullany, Kelsey Brebberman, Morgan Brebberman; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Anne Brebberman; son, Jim Brebberman.

Guest are welcome to gather at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee, OH, on Friday, June 2, 2023 from 4-6 p.m. Interment will be private.
