Robert J. Blanton, 84, of Genoa, died early Tuesday morning, October 15, 2013, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Robert was born June 17, 1929, in Kernery, Nebraska, to William F. and Margaret J. Temple Blanton. On August 10, 1958, in Toledo, Ohio, he married Martha H. Pewitt and she survives. During the Korean war, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Robert worked at Brush-Wellman from 1959-71, at Chrysler from 1971-81 and retired from General Motors, having worked in machine repair from 1981-91. Robert and his wife enjoyed attending glassware, jewelry and antique shows over the years. After his retirement, they spent winters in Florida. Robert is survived by his wife of 55 years, Martha, his daughter, Cynthia Blanton Angel Montalvo of Margate, Florida, grandchildren, Robert Beverly Blanton of Toledo and William Blanton of Boaz, Alabama, and great grandchildren, Makayla, Mallory and Tyler. His parents, son, Joseph Blanton, and seven brothers and sisters preceded him in death. Visitation will be at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, from 2-4 p.m., Thursday, October 17, 2013. A private graveside service will be held in Clay Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials for Robert to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, OH 43551.
