Rita Ann Wingart passed away peacefully on Monday, March 15, 2010. Born on February 5, 1923, Rita was the fifth and youngest daughter of Elizabeth Moesh and Jacob Helmer. She was a graduate of St. Ursula Academy and spent much of her life working in various capacities at her parents flower shop, Helmers Flower Shop. Rita married R. Paul Wingart in 1944. Rita and Paul had a long and loving marriage until death parted them in 2008. Rita was an avid golfer and belonged to Sylvania Country Club for many years. Rita and Paul were long time members of the Conn Weisenberger American Legion Post and the Sylvania Elks Lodge. Rita was very artistic in designing floral arrangements for her familys business and she and her late husband Paul enjoyed an active social life. Preceding her in death along with her husband and her parents are her sisters, Marcella Bracy, Gertrude Collins, Marie Neumann and Irma Carr. Left to cherish her memories are nephews, D. Michael Collins, William Bracy, Gerald Lawicki, Lyle McClow, Richard Wingart, David Myers, nieces, Mary P. Hobbs, Mary Ann Simons, Carol Beldon and Linda Marchall, along with many cousins and close friends. We wish to say a special thank you to Kingston Care Center of Sylvania for their care, while she resided there and to Hospice of Northwest Ohio for assisting in making her transition peaceful. Visitation for Rita will be from 2-4PM and 6-8PM on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave.west of Corey Rd.. A Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10:00AM on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Christ the King Catholic Church, with family prayers beginning at 9:30AM at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of the donors choice.
