Ricardo ‘Ricky’ Colón, Jr., 16, passed away September 16, 2015. He was an amazing young man gone too soon. Ricky was born January 5, 1999, the son of Lt. Col. Ricardo Colón, Sr. and Susan (Meengs) Colón. He attended Perrysburg Schools since kindergarten where he excelled academically and creatively. Ricky was a former Cub Scout and Boy Scout, member of the PJHS & PHS Marching Yellow Jackets, and hockey player for Sylvania travel league. He also earned his Black Belt from Jon Penny’s Black Belt Academy. He was a member of The Cellar/eSomethin.com at Perrysburg High School where he was a junior who aspired to attend the Bowling Green State University Aviation Program to become a pilot like his dad. Ricky is survived by his parents, Ricardo and Susan, and brother Matthew all of Perrysburg, OH; maternal grandmother Lynn Meengs and Uncle Bill Meengs of Spring Lake, MI; paternal grandparents Carlos and Sylvia Colón of Ft. Mill, SC (formerly Puerto Rico); Uncle Carlos & Aunt Maria, cousins Carlos & Gabriel of Allentown, PA; Uncle David & Aunt Beatriz Colón and cousins Diego & Alex of Ft. Mill, SC. His paternal grandfather, Russell Meengs of Spring Lake, MI, will greet his grandson in Heaven. Friends and family will be received at St. John XXIII Catholic Community, 24250 Dixie Highway, Perrysburg, Ohio on Monday, September 21, 2015 from 11:00 AM until the time of the Memorial Mass at 1:00 PM. The Funeral Mass can be viewed live or archived at www.stjohn23.org.
