Rickey Atkins, Jr.

The best kid ever, Rickey R. Atkins, Jr., 16, of Toledo, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021 in Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, with his loving family nearby. He was born in Toledo to Christina Ratz and Rickey Atkins, Sr. on June 14, 2004. He was a sophomore student at Woodward High School that loved football and basketball. He was a shy but loving young man that everyone adored. His world revolved around his family. Rickey was a goofy and caring soul that will forever be missed. He is survived by his parents, Christina and Rickey, Sr.; siblings, Courtney (Matthew) Stremmel, Kressa Bentley; DeVante’ McCaskill; maternal grandmother, Karen Ratz; paternal grandmother, Doris J. Atkins; aunt, Heather Ratz; uncle, David Atkins; girlfriend, Ja’Tyra Jackson; and countless loving friends and classmates. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Michael Ratz. Friends and family are invited to gather for a Going Home Celebration on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, OH 43623 (419-841-2422). In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Rickey’s name be made to his family, in the care of Christina Ratz.
