Rick C. McQueary, age 68 of Toledo, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2022. The oldest of nine children, he was born on March 15, 1954, to Jack and Maryann (Lagger) McQueary. A proud graduate of Cardinal Stritch in 1972, Rick went on to get his Associates Degree from University of Toledo.
Everyone who knew Rick could attest to his hard work and handyman abilities. He worked for BP Refinery for years as a supervisor retiring in 2006 and owned his own construction company.
Rick had many hobbies which included international travel. He went to many different places such as Australia, Scotland, and Egypt. He loved cars, sports, concerts, and all kinds of sweet treats. Whether it was annual trips to the Brickyard in Indy or cheering on the Toledo Mud Hens and Walleye, sharing those experiences with his loved ones came before everything else. He was a proud member of the Maumee Eagles where he was often referred to as the “Candyman”. However, nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his grandchildren.
Rick will be missed dearly by his son and daughter; mother Maryann McQueary; siblings Sue (Don) Revenaugh, Chuck McQueary, Sheri (Doug) Kelly, Karen (Dave) Hart, John (Joy) McQueary, Mike (Lisa) McQueary, Rob (Sharon) McQueary; 4 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack McQueary; sister, Connie Hartman.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church (212 N. Stadium Rd.) beginning at 11 am with a funeral mass at 12 pm. Interment will be private at a later date. Online condolences can be made at walkerfuneralhomes.com
