Rick R. Kaufmann

Rick Kaufmann, age 70, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9th, 2025. Born in Quincy, Illinois, on March 21, 1954, to Marion and Dorothy Kaufmann, Rick lived a life full of love, dedication, and generosity.

Rick graduated from Springfield High School in Illinois, where he proudly earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He married his high school sweetheart, Louise (Pipkin) Kaufmann, on May 24, 1975, and together they built a beautiful life over their 50 years of marriage.

Rick earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Illinois State University. He began his career in sales with Georgia-Pacific and later dedicated over 25 years to Owens Corning, where he served as Director of Human Resources. His career took the family on moves from Illinois to Iowa, Ohio, Texas, and finally back to Ohio.

A generous and compassionate man, Rick was deeply involved in his children's lives, coaching their sports teams and sharing his love for fishing, boating, and traveling. He cherished time spent with his Archwood friends and his beloved grandchildren, always supporting them in their sports endeavors.

Rick was an avid sports fan, passionately supporting the Buckeyes and Toledo sports teams. He held season tickets for the Mud Hens since 2002 and the Walleye since 2009.

Rick leaves behind a legacy of love and is survived by his wife, Louise; children, Kelly (Josh) Martin and Michael (Nikki) Kaufmann; siblings, Debra (Michael) Bond and Gregory (Katherine) Kaufmann; grandchildren, Chloe, Connor, Declan, Cian, and Ivy; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Dorothy.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025, from 3-7 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave., Toledo, OH 43623. The funeral service will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sylvania, OH, on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 10 a.m., with burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
