Rick Beaty, 71, of Port Clinton, Ohio, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2022, at the Stein Hospice Center, Sandusky, Ohio, after losing a long courageous battle to cancer. Rick was born in Galion, Ohio on March 8, 1951. He is survived by his mother: Helen (Creason) Beaty of Galion, OH; his wife: Patricia Beaty (Tolar) of Port Clinton, OH; his daughter: Laura (Kevin) Fruchey of Strasburg, OH; his son: Rick (Misty) Beaty and his three grandchildren, Adelynn, Jaxon and Annaston Beaty, all of Powell, OH. He is proceeded in death by his father, William Beaty Sr. and his two brothers William Beaty Jr. and Terry Beaty.
Rick graduated from Galion High School in 1969 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served his country proudly until his honorable discharge in 1973. Rick married his true love, Patricia A. (Tolar) on December 31, 1976, in Galion, Ohio, and they spent the last 46 years enjoying life together. Rick received his Bachelor of Arts Administration in 1985 from Malone College and a Master of Business Administration in 1991 from Ashland University. He began his career as an apprentice electrician at the Timken company where he spent 22 years. During his tenure at Timken, Rick held various roles from apprentice electrician instructor to working within their procurement division. He continued his career leading procurement efforts for the Volvo Co. in both North Carolina and Virginia for over 13 years until his retirement.
Rick had a passion for music and anything history related. He also had a knack for landscaping; he helped make his home and community more beautiful every place he lived. He loved his family very much, especially his grandchildren, who will forever remember his instructions on fishing, fun projects, and his everlasting golf cart rides. He loved to fish and target shoot but truly enjoyed good times with friends, family, and especially his chocolate lab Mollie. He and his wife spent many days riding bicycles, landscaping or enjoying an ice-cold beverage together. Rick will be deeply missed by all that had a chance to know him.
The family has scheduled a gathering to remember Rick and his life on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton, from 2:00-4:00 PM. There will be a military service, immediately following the gathering at 4:00 PM.
