Richard J. Yager, 85, of Perrysburg passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011 in the Hospice of NW Ohio in Perrysburg, surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born September 16, 1925 in Chicago, IL to John and Mary (Pavletic) Yager. He loved playing the trumpet, Big Band music and swing dancing. He married Louise M. (Ronk) in Chicago's St. Sabina's Catholic Church on September 4, 1948. Richard was a WWII veteran serving in the US Army in the Battle of the Bulge and elsewhere in the European Theatre. He worked for the Lily Tulip Cup Corporation and the Lily Division of Owens Illinois for 38 years, and was transferred all across the country, making many wonderful, lifelong friends along the way. Richard always had a smile and a keen sense of humor. He was a wonderful husband, father and father-in-law. He was full of life and loved being active, especially doing anything with his family, by whom he was cherished and by whom he will be so dearly missed. He was a long time member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Perrysburg and a member of the VFW and Knights of Columbus. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother Norman J. Yager. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Louise; daughters Carole (Ron) Buchanan of Perrysburg and Gayle (Mike) Bayer of Swanton; sister Rita Yager of Oak Lawn, IL, sister-in-law Elaine Yager of Oak Forest, IL and four nephews and their families. A private funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, June 29, 2011 with interment at St. Rose Cemetery, Perrysburg. The family wishes to especially thank the nurses and doctors of St. Luke's Hospital ICU and the staff of the Edwin and Marion Knight Hospice Center for their loving care and support and suggests that any memorial contributions be directed to the Hospice of NW Ohio, 30000 East River Rd., Perrysburg, OH, 43551.
