Richard J. Westerheide

Richard J. Dick Westerheide, age 64 of Holland, Ohio passed away suddenly at Detroit Receiving Hospital, Detroit , Michigan. He was born September 2, 1951 in Highland Park, Michigan to Dr. Francis Jim and Caryl (Verbiest) Westerheide. A 1969 graduate of Birmingham Brother Rice High School in Michigan he received his Bachelors degree in accounting in 1973 from the University of Notre Dame. Dick started his career with Price Waterhouse in Detroit and then continued with the Dana Corporation, Proctor and Gamble in Cincinnati, Caterpillar Corporation in Peoria, Illinois and was currently a controller with General Motors in Detroit. A devout Catholic, he was a devoted son, brother, husband, father and grandfather who was an avid golfer and huge Notre Dame fan. Dick was also a member of Stone Oak Country Club. Dick was preceded in death by his mother Caryl, brother Tom and sister Mary Ellen Westerheide, he is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sue; daughter Elizabeth (Mike) Rosello; son Peter Westerheide; grandchildren Ryan and Charlie Rosello; father Jim Westerheide; sister Sally Westerheide; brother John Westerheide; and a host of extended family members. Friends will be received at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey) on Monday from 2-8 PM with a Scripture Service at 7 PM. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday at 10 AM in St. Josephs Catholic Church 5373 S. Main St. Sylvania, Ohio where visitation will be one hour prior to services. Private burial will take place on Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Detroit. The family suggests memorials to Birmingham Brother Rice High School, 7101 Lahser Rd. Bloomfield Hills, Michigan 48301.
