Richard I. Weaver, D.D.S., age 90 of Otterbein Portage Valley and formerly of Perrysburg, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018. He was born in Dayton, OH on May 3, 1927 to Harold L. and Virginia L. (Dice) Weaver and married Rubie Jane Miller on July 30, 1949. She preceded him in death on November 10, 2010. Dr. Weaver received a B.S. from the University of Dayton and a D.D.S. and M.S. from The Ohio State University. He was an oral surgeon in Toledo for forty years, retiring in 1996. He also served in the United States Navy. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Perrysburg, Libanus Lodge #80 F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo, Zenobia Shrine Temple Lancers Unit, and Elks Lodge #1850. He was a member of the Ohio and American Dental Associations, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and The Ohio Society of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery. He was Past President of the Toledo Dental Society and was a recipient of the Ernest Bach Award for Exceptional Service. Surviving are his brother, Thomas (Virginia) Weaver; his children, James R. (Susan Boldys) Weaver, Sylvania, Julia L. (Kirk) Werkman, Perrysburg, David A. (Laura) Weaver, Perrysburg, and Diane E. (Harmon) Andrews, Warren, OH. Grandchildren, Erin, Nathan, and Andrew Weaver, Riley Werkman, Sara and Harmon Andrews, Ashleigh (Donald) Davis, Alissa (Sean) O’Neill, Taylor (Vince) Halliday, and Rachel (Tony) Scherley; great-grandchildren, Jenna Lynn and Andrew Davis, Jackson Weaver, Keegan and Camden Halliday, Easton and Tanner Scherley, Arleigh Werkman, and Rubie O’Neill. Friends will be received after 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E.S. Boundary St. in Perrysburg (419-874-3133), where a Masonic Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Immediately following the Masonic Service a Funeral Service will take place. Burial will be private in Fort Meigs Union Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to either the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, 3229 Burnet Avenue, Cincinnati, OH or First United Methodist Church, 200 W. 2nd Street, Perrysburg, OH.
