Richard C. “Dick” Waite, Sr., of Holland, Ohio passed away peacefully on November 20, 2018 at the age of 87. He was born in Akron, Ohio to the late Donald G. and Mabel E. Waite. Dick graduated from Salem High School in 1949 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in July of 1949. He served his Country during the Korean War (1950-1952) and because of his Service was chosen to be part of an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. After his discharge in 1953, he attended Youngstown University. On December 11, 1953, Dick married Jean Rhodes. They moved to Maumee, Ohio in 1967 and then to Springfield Township in 1978, where they have lived since. Dick worked for the Bostwick-Braun Company for 13 years and, most recently, for Carolina Freight Corporation, retiring from the Teamsters Union in 1993 with 40 years in the trucking industry. Dick had been an avid car buff since his teen years. He was a member of Northwest Ohio Street Machiners, Midwest Kustoms, Kustoms of America, and several others. Dick is survived by his Sons, Richard C. (Susan) Waite, Jr., Robert C. (Mary) Waite, Russell C. Waite, and Rodney C. (Chris) Waite; Grandchildren, Robert C. (Anna) Waite, Jr., Russell C. (Camille) Waite, Jr., Rodney C. (Kathleen) Waite, II, Daniel (Laura) Waite, and Megan Waite; and 10 Great-Grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by his loving and devoted Wife of 64 years, Jean (Rhodes) Waite, and Son, Ronald C. Waite. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Planned Pet Hood of Lucas County, 6638 Centers Drive, Holland, Ohio 43528. Graveside services for Dick and his wife, Jean will be held at Springfield Township Cemetery in Holland, Ohio on Saturday, December 08, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. With Military Honors promptly starting at 10:00 A.M.
