Richard Edward Vick, legend and visionary, born July 17, 1937, shed his mortal sphere on February 14, 2024. Born to Helen (Green) and Edward Vick, Dick graduated from Devilbiss High School where he was the drum major of the marching band. He attended the University of Toledo before serving in the United States Army. His tour of duty completed after serving in Germany with his Missile Battalion.
Dick married Kathleen (Werning) in 1965 and worked in a variety of careers before finding his niche in the transportation industry as the owner of Airline Cab. His vast interests included sailing, cooking, baking and photography. Besides being a raconteur, Dick was a jack of many trades who even taught his wife how to sew.
Dick is survived by his children Toby (Lois) Vick, Erin (Joan Kavanagh) Vick, and Jennell (Greg Lee) Vick and his four grandchildren Alexander and Andrew Vick and Fiona and Annabel Lee. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Mary Hill, and his former wife. His family is grateful for the compassionate care provided by the team at Foundation Park Alzheimer’s Care Center.
A celebration of Dick’s life will take place at 11 AM on March 7, 2024 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at 428 N. Erie Street in Toledo. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Ability Center of Toledo. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
