Richard F. Strickland, Sr., age 78, of Monclova, died June 24, 2017 at his home. Dick was born February 16, 1939 in Bowling Green, Ohio to the late James Abraham and Helen Elizabeth (Schroeder) Strickland. He married Oraleen M. Williams on September 28, 1956 in Angola, Indiana. He retired from AP Parts in Toledo after many years of employment, carrying out all types of tasks. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bowling Green. In his free time, Dick enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren, and visiting the casino, especially to play the slot machines. He also liked to travel with his wife. Together they visited every state other than Maine in the lower 48 states. Dicks favorite destination was Deadwood, South Dakota. He was an avid and lifelong fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Green Bay Packers. He will be remembered for his good sense of humor (Dick loved to tease and pick on his family and friends) and for his courage and strength in fighting numerous illnesses throughout his life. He probably found his greatest joy in time spent with his grandchildren. Dick is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Oraleen Strickland; children, Selena Strickland, Richard (Nina) Strickland, Jr. and Tamie Logston; six grandchildren, Tara Logston, Robert (Sharon) Logston, Stanley Strickland, Jr., Nickolas (Libby) Strickland, Richard Strickland III and Leslie Stickland; eight great grandchildren, Ryan Logston, Christian Aldaco, Konner Logston, Kaitlynn Logston, Daemyn Strickland, Kiera Strickland, Bentley Strickland, Allura Strickland; siblings, Abraham and Thomas Strickland and Laura Rood. He was also preceded in death by a son, Stanley Forest Strickland, Sr. and his brother James. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.). Memorials may be made to St. Judes Hospital for Children or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
