Richard T. Secor, age 89, former Mayor and Police Court Judge of Ottawa Hills, passed away Wednesday May 7, 2014 at the Ebeid Hospice Residence. He was born May 19, 1924 in Toledo to Thomas and Loretta Baker Secor. Richard was a graduate of Scott High School, the University of Michigan and the University of Toledo Law School. He had a long legal career practicing with Dan McCullough, Jack Callahan, Charles Ide and Joe Shibley, retiring in 1984. For many years he wrote the scripts for the Toledo Gridiron Show. His memberships included the Toledo Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association, American Bar Association, and The Sertoma Club. Richard was also a member of The Toledo Club, Toledo Country Club, Inverness Club and Belmont Country Club, The Fifth Thursday Club and the Costco Club. An avid world traveler, U of M fan and lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed wintering in Naples, Florida after retirement. He also loved Dobermans and reading. Preceded in death by his wife, Jerry, he is survived by his son, Thomas Susan Secor; daughter, Susan Edward Watters III; grandchildren, Richard Megan Secor, Jennifer Jeremy Bergman and Ann Watters; and great-grandchildren, Lucy and Rory Bergman. Friends will be received at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey on Friday from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 PM in Epworth United Methodist Church, 4855 West Central Ave., Toledo, Ohio. Private interment will follow.
