Richard Schneider

My Dad, Richard Dick Schneider died peacefully at the age of 79. He was born and lived his entire life in Ohio. He lived through extraordinary times, times I can only begin to imagine. My dad was born at the end of the depression, he lived his life taking nothing for granted, a strength I always admired. Despite the loss of his mother Francis Rife at age nine, my dad learned early that life continues. Make hay when the sun shines From this age on he lived and worked with his father Herbert Schneider on Schneiders Dairy farm and at the John Deere Dealership, HJ Schneider Sons. located on the corner of Byrne and Heatherdowns. In High School he met and fell in love with Jeanne McGregor. They married in 1950 and raised six daughters. My dad was a true pioneer, clearing a area of wooded land on Route 20A in Monclova which became home. It was a truly magical place, surrounded by woods and barns filled with horses, cows, pigs, geese, and chickens 7, 000 when they opened Schneiders Egg Lane in the 1970s. Dick was a man of few words, he always enjoyed a good joke, made amazing metal sculptures and loved bourbon. His hooked rug collection was something you would have to see to believe. He remained devoted to John Deere, enjoyed farming, spending time with family and friends, restoring old tractors, 26 on last count playing poker, listening to the country music station, mowing the grass on a sunny day, and watching Gunsmoke. He will forever be remembered by his wife of 60 years Jeanne; Daughters Debbie Clouse Biddle Jim , Pam McIntyre, Cindy Turner Jim , Laurie Schneider Hahn Dave Amy Schneider and Sheila Johnson David, as well as his 19 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. The Family would like to graciously thank Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their unwavering support and kindness, and we thank the Monclova Volunteer Fire Department for their quick response and late night visits. Family and friends may visit Thursday, November 12, 2009 from 2-8 pm in the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, OH.
