Richard A. Rulton

December 22, 1956 — April 15, 2024

Richard unexpectedly left this world on April 15, 2024, at the age of 67. Richard was born in London Ontario, Canada in 1956 and moved to Ohio at a young age. He lived in many northeast Ohio cities before settling in Toledo in 1971.

He graduated from Whitmer High School in 1975 and immediately joined the United States Air Force. While enlisted he became a US Citizen. After four years of honorable active service, he joined the US Air National Guard where he served another twelve years. During his time at the Air National Guard, he also became a Registered Nurse and worked for Promedica Hospitals for over 30 years. Also, during this time Rick fulfilled a childhood dream by being accepted to and graduating from, the Toledo Fire Academy. He proudly served the City of Toledo, working at multiple fire stations for 22 years, where he retired from Station 23 in 2009.

If he wasn't busy enough in all those years, Rick also raised a family and took numerous trips to his favorite place, Walt Disney World. He enjoyed his retirement by traveling to many new locations with loved ones, "putzing around" on his boat and grilling in the backyard. Other favorite pastimes included following The Cleveland Browns and Ohio State football, watching his favorite TV shows, and tracking his son's flights on the internet.

He was preceded in death by his loving mother Ruth and his sweet and "quirky" older sister Ann. He is survived by his pride, Logan (Amber), and his joy, Erica, as well as the mother of his children, Anne. He also leaves behind dedicated lifelong friends Dave and Gail and a supportive brotherhood of firefighters.
