Richard "Rick" Abel

Richard "Rick" Abel, age 63, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. He was born on February 4, 1958 to William C. and Mary Ann (Simon) Abel in Toledo. Rick graduated from Maumee High School. He was maintenance at St. Joseph Catholic Church and School, as well as St. Joseph Cemetery in Maumee. For many years, Rick coached CYO basketball. He enjoyed racing pigeons, loved his animals, the Cleveland Browns and Notre Dame. He was always helping others and will be remembered for his big heart. Rick loved spending time with his grandkids and frequented Mayberry Diner. He made friends everywhere he went and never met a stranger. Rick is survived by his daughter, Tara (Stephan) George; grandchildren, Noah, and Logan; sister, Gail (John) Tucholski; his best friend, Dann Geiger; special neighbors, Kathy, Ann, Alex, Aaron, Dan, Al and Lorenzo and Dominique. He preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Ann Abel; brothers Steven Abel and his twin, Michael Abel. A special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Toledo Hospital Neuro ICU 8th floor for the exceptional care Rick received and Life Connection of Northwest Ohio.
