Richard “Ric” L. Powers, 68, of Oak Harbor, OH passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, OH. He was born on October 10, 1953 in Toledo, OH to John E. and Joanne A. (Sulewski) Powers. On December 31, 1995 in Kenton, OH he married Diana C. Butcher, and she survives. Ric earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Bowling Green State University in Human Resources. He worked as a Vocational Rehabilitation Vocational Specialist for Behavioral Connections of Wood County for many years, before retiring. Prior to that Ric worked for various M.R.D.D. facilities and workshops, and with injured workers referred by Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation. Ric also provided vocational rehabilitation services to individuals referred by (OOD) Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation.
Ric was baptized through the United Methodist Church and continued to participate in his faith. He enjoyed boating, he took great pride in maintaining his lawn, landscaping, his pole barn, and growing fruit trees. Ric enjoyed his time spent with family and friends as he cooked for them. Ric was so easy going and easy to talk with, that he never really met a stranger. He also enjoyed old Western movie s and Sci-Fi films, one of his favorite things to do was see a Star Wars movie with his grandson, Leland. Ric enjoyed people, especially his niece, Mindy, who he adored and related to her so well.
In addition to his loving wife of 27 years, Diana, Ric is survived by his mother, Joanne Powers, brother, Jeffery Allen (Kim) Powers, sister, Rebecca Sue (Kenneth) Jacobs, children, Lisa M. Powers and Lyndsey M. (Troy) Ogrin, step-children, Ted P. (Shannon) Rogers and Amber E. Rogers, grandchildren, Leland Rogers, Kaysey Rogers, Grant Johnson, Karentyn Ogrin, Keatyn Ogrin, Ryder Rogers, Knytlyn Ogrin, McKenzie (Jesse) Farmer, Brianna Kolodziejski, Lexi Kolodziejski, and Marky Kolodziejski. He was preceded in death by his father, John Powers and daughter, Katie Lynn Powers.
Visitation for Ric will be Monday, April 11, 2022 from 5-8 p.m. at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor, OH. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at the Maumee United Methodist Church, 405 Sackett St., Maumee, OH. There will be a dove release in memory of Ric immediately following the services outside the church by his grandson, Leland. Memorial contributions in memory of Ric may be given to the Ukraine Children’s Fund via the United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com .
