Richard Polston, age 69, died at the Franciscan Center on Tuesday evening, July 15, 2025.
He was a dedicated Christian of the Baptist faith, had done much study on the Bible and its stories and had read the Bible through in less than a year, twice.
He was a fan of many sports but especially NFL football and professional racing.
A peaceful and well-liked man he battled multiple sclerosis most of his life.
He was a graduate of DeVilbiss High School and attended UT for two years before landing a job at Flower Hospital as a transport courier.
He married and later divorced his wife, and he had no children, and he continued to have many challenges with his health.
Through all these years, his faith was never weakened and he regularly continued his study of the Bible.
Soon after losing both of his legs to Multiple Sclerosis, he moved into the Franciscan Center, where he lived for many years and was well-liked by both staff and residents.
He is survived by his brother Russ Polston (wife Kathy, daughter Belle) of Toledo and his sister Pamala Dille (husband Don, children Elizabeth and Gregory) of Oregon, Ohio.
He will be missed by both family and friends.
He once said that Bible stood for Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. He was well prepared and could show others the way.
Visitation will be at the Walker Funeral Home (5155 W. Sylvania Ave.) on Thursday, July 24, between the hours of 4 and 7pm.
There will be a small funeral service on Friday, July 25th at 10 am, followed by interment at Toledo Memorial Park.
