Richard John Nadolny, age 91 of Sylvania passed away Friday, March 5 2021 in the Ebeid Hospice Center, Sylvania. He was born July 9, 1929 in Toledo to Clement and Hattie (Jankowski) Nadolny. Richard was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. His studies at the University of Toledo were interrupted by his service in the army during the Korean War. He attained his pharmacy degree from U.T. then went on to earn his master’s degree in public health from Xavier University. He began his career at the former Belmont Pharmacy and also worked at Tiedtke’s. Richard was a pharmaceutical representative with Upjohn Pharmaceuticals in Toledo and Ft. Wayne. After receiving his master’s degree, he was a hospital administrator with various hospitals for 25 years. After retirement in the healthcare field, he continued his career as business owner with Dunkin Donuts on Central Ave. and Snelling and Snelling Personnel Services, finally retiring at the age of 75. He was a Rotarian and a member of various boards throughout his career. An avid reader, he also enjoyed walking at Olander Park, birding, cooking, cribbage and euchre. In his earlier years he enjoyed racquetball and was a life-long sports fan especially The Ohio State Buckeyes and Duke Blue Devils. Richard was preceded in death by siblings, Clement Nadolny, Jr., Beatrice (Orville) Kummer and Edwin (Marlene) Nadolny. A wonderfully loving husband and father he is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty (Ignasiak) Nadolny; children, Julia (Phil) DeMuth, Chris (Margy) Nadolny, Paul Nadolny and Lisa Nadolny-Sedlar; grandchildren Stacey, Nick, Emily and Sina Nadolny, Sophia Sedlar and Olivia Demuth; great-grandchildren, Hudson and Norah Nadolny and Madison, Henry and Camden Higgins; and sister-in-law Rita Nadolny. Friends will be received at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey) on Wednesday from 4-7:30 pm. The funeral mass will be held Thursday at 10 am in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church 5373 Main St. Sylvania where visitation will begin after 9:30 am. Interment will be private. Masks are required and social distancing will be observed for all services. The family suggests memorials to Promedica Hospice 5300 Harroun Rd. Sylvania , Ohio 43560.
