Richard W. Miller age 89, of Maumee died peacefully on Saturday July 26, 2008 in St. Lukes Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born in Toledo on January 26, 1919 to John and Rose Hertzfeld Miller. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and St. Vincent-Mercy Medical Center where he was employed as a security guard. Richard was a Staff Sergeant in the Army during WWII. His memberships included St. Josephs Church, Maumee; past member of St. Patrick of Heatherdowns; Knights of Columbus and VFW Post 11115. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be missed by all who knew him. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary O. Miller; sons, Richard Rita, Patrick Jean, Michael Dawn, Jan, Mark Marcia, and Thomas Miller; daughters, Pamela John Pettee, Mary Jo Kevin Baucom and Janenne Marcus. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and 2 sisters. Friends may call at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home 501 Conant St. Maumee on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 from 5-9 pm with the rosary being recited at 7:30 pm. Funeral services will begin on Thursday in the funeral home at 10:00 am followed by Mass of Christian burial at St. Josephs Church, Maumee at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
