RICHARD NELSON MEAGLEY, SR. Richard Nelson Meagley, Sir, 66, passed away on December 27, at home with his wife Rita by his side. He was born on April 29, 1947 in Toledo to Nelson and Dorothy Halvorson. He married Cereta Tippin in 1994. Ric graduated from Whitmer High School and was an apprentice at Glass City Tool and Die for 4 years. He was a Journeyman and Tool and Die maker. He worked at the Chrysler Manufacturing Plant for 40 years retiring in 2009. He took up Geo-Caching, which he loved, and made many friends. He found over 6000 caches in 4 years. Ric had a love for jeeps from a teenager till now. He owned a ’48 Willys Jeep since 1975, named “Mighty Mo”, and it is a stock 1948 Willys CJ2A. He went on annual off road trips and met a great group of guys in Cincinnati. He vacationed in Nags Head, North Carolina the past 19 years. He had a love of nature, which he got from his father, which fell right in with his Geo-Caching and off road jeeping. In addition to Rita, his wife of 19 years, he is survived by children: Richard Nelson Meagley, Jr. and daughter, Shawn George. Jen Stevens, Tammy (Doug) Cook, Mark (Shirley) Gillingham and Matt (Mollie Babos) Tippin, 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and sister, Ruth Ann Peltier. He was preceded in death by his parents Nelson and Dorothy and grandchild, Jessika Maree Gillingham. Friends and family will be received in the Neville Funeral Home, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland (419-865-8879) from 2-8 pm Thursday where funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday January 3, 2014. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Waterville. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
