Richard P Manzey

Richard “Dick” P. Manzey left this life peacefully on February 24, 2015 at UT Medical Center after a short battle with cancer at the age of 92. Dick was born in Toledo, Ohio and grew up in the South end. He graduated from Libbey High School in Toledo in 1940. He enlisted and served proudly in the United States Navy, Atlantic Fleet, in WWII as a Seaman and Electrician aboard the USS Achelous. Dick then married the love of his life, Angela Marie Davidson, with whom he spent the next 62 years of his life until she preceded him in death in 2009. His careers included working for Western Electric, Dictaphone Corp and Owens Illinois, from which he retired in 1982 after 27 years of service. In addition to his beautiful wife, Dick’s “loves” included his hobbies of amateur radio (call sign K81SE), photography and listening to good music on the radio (like that played by Ragtime Rick on Saturday mornings). Dick is survived by his three loving daughters; Beth-Anne Zaenger; Christine Manzey and Laura Manzey; his 4th daughter” Belinda Costin; his sons-in-law, Chris Zaenger and Elliot Tramer; his grandchildren and their spouses, Heather Iler & Nik Zisk; Holly & Aaron Rhodes; David Tramer; Kevin & Ali Zaenger; Katy & Jason Moore and great grandchildren Madison and Garrett Zisk; Casza, Gabrielle and Jorryn Rhodes; Lily, Violet and Emmy Rose Zaenger; Xavier and Mia Moore. The entire family wants to express gratitude to the caring and loving staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio by requesting that donations be made to this organization in his name. Visitation will be held at Neville Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland (419-865-8879) from 3 pm to 6 pm on Sunday, March 1, 2015. A committal service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, March 2, 2015 at Toledo Memorial Park (6382 Monroe Street, Sylvania, Ohio) in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum. He and Angela will then be at peace together…as they both always wanted.
