Richard Joseph Long, age 73, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on June 5, 2018 at St. Annes Hospital with his family by his side. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Elvin and Peggy; brother, Skip and sister, Marilyn Newton. He attended Macomber for radio and TV and enlisted in the Navy for six years. He was a member of IBEW Local 8 for 50 years. He worked for Romanoff and Colgan Electric for a combined 37 years. Rick was generous with his time, always willing to help by showing his knowledge and expertise with hands on. Classic cars were his passion and his last 57 Chevy convertible was his pride. He was diagnosed with MS in 1999 and many more diagnosis to follow. His body was tired, his mind sharp and his heart full of love for his family and friends. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kathy of almost 40 years, children, Jodi (Sam) Foreman; Rick (Carrie) Long; Kim (Brad) Iott; six grandchildren: Michael, William, Brady, Tori, Tessa and Evan, and many more special grand and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his sisters, Nancy (Gary) Scholl and Pat Holloman. A private committal service will be held at Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery, Chapel of Peace, 6382 Monroe Street, Sylvania, Ohio at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 9, 2018. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to National MS Society, 6155 Rockside Road Suite 202, Independence, Ohio 44131.
