Richard Frank Lemke, age 90, of Genoa, OH, passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at the Genoa Retirement Village. He was born on February 21, 1920, in Ottawa County to William and Eva Sampson Lemke. On April 24, 1947, he married Frances Wiegman at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Pemberville, OH. Richard served with the Armys Seventh Armored Division in Europe during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a messenger and drove a jeep delivering messages from headquarters to field command and to the front lines. While serving in Europe he was proud to have met both Dwight Eisenhower and George Patton. Richard farmed for Henry W. Bergman between 1948-1963 and worked for the Genoa School System between 1953-1983 as a bus driver and custodian. After his retirement he worked part-time for Clay Township for 13 years. Richard was a member of the United Church of God. Richard is survived by his wife, Frances L. Lemke, daughters, Linda Leslie Wyse of Genoa, Mary Ann Philip Hinesman of Bowling Green, Marsha Denny Tilley of Temperance, MI, and Barbara Mark Welch of Kellyville, OK; grandchildren, Timothy Mary Jo Wyse, Melissa Scott Hodson, Bradley Jen Hinesman, Eric Megan Hinesman, Jaime Welch fianc, Alex Roth, and Matthew Welch; sisters, Lois Wiegman and Kathryn Wilka; sisters-in-law, Sandra Lemke and Mary Lou Marv Bartels; brothers-in-law, James Alexander and Walter Krumnow; great-grandchildren, Aidan and Audrey Wyse, Lily and Noah Hodson, Addison, Austin, Luca, and Elyssa Hinesman. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Walter, Paul, and John Lemke and sisters, May Krumnow, Ruth Krumnow, Irene Krumnow, and Lucille Harsanje. Visitation for Richard will be Wednesday May 5, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, Genoa, Ohio. Funeral service will take place Thursday May 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will take place in the Clay Township Cemetery.
